Pasta portions
« on: April 10, 2018, 09:02:38 PM »
Just starting.  I would like to know how I am supposed to be portioning pasta for dinner.  Am I focusing on calories or cups?  For example I had barilla pasta and it said 2oz was 200 calories.  Very confusing!  I ended up eating 1 1/2 cups of that pasta making me think I have over ate!  Can someone please explain this to me!

Hi, and welcome.  I hope the program is going well for you so far.

We try to keep things simple so 1 and 1/2 cups of cooked pasta is just right for dinner :-)

Measuring portions can indeed be confusing: there are amounts, grams, ounces, etc. never mind the fact that you’re usually eating several macronutrients (carbs, protein, and fat) at once.  As much as possible, keep it simple, and just by putting attention on it and being mindful, you will be doing something positive for yourself on your weight loss journey.  Over time, you will get a feel for how much your body - and your brain! - needs to eat.

Keep us posted if it feels helpful,
