First: chicken or the egg?
« on: March 25, 2008, 11:17:57 AM »
It is truly hard to start a diet and take care of yourself
when you are in deep depression.  You know all the
right things you should do, but you just don't have
the motivation, desire or strength to do them.
I was unemployed, still dealing with disappointments of
divorce, single parenthood and loser jobs.  I knew
I had to feel better to get a job -- but I needed a job
to feel better!  So, I thought.
What I needed was to feel better!
And that is what this diet did immediately for me.
It gave me something to focus on.  It's simple.
I didn't have to spend a lot of money.  It gave me hope.
The support from the authors and members is amazing!
I saw results instantly and that has kept me going.
I have lost 10 lbs. in a month.  I felt confident enough to
secure a job that I never thought I would get.
I feel good about myself for the first time in a LONG time.
... all by God's grace.
I encourage all who skim through these boards ... you may be
completely surprised how a simple thing like changing your diet
can lift you out of your depression.
Best wishes,
Lillie

How beautiful to feel not only your gratitude but to know that you are being kind to yourself and feeling pride about who you are.  Keep it up - I'm inspired!

I've been attending a 12-step type group at my church of
women mostly struggling with depression -- and it seems to
be true all around.  We want to feel better, but we don't have
the strength to act.  We can't act because we don't feel better.
That is why I am so very grateful that I found SPD.  I didn't
have to spend extra money (actually eating less saves me money!)
I have a "support" system right here online and now with friends
who are starting the diet here.
And the tremendous lift of my spirit helped me to take the steps
I needed to find my dream job and have the energy to do it!
I encourage any "viewers", don't let the word Diet throw you off
This food plan does much more than help you lose weight!
Best wishes,
